| Our recent pleasure rides
at Wood Street and on Whitmoor Common have raised over £370
and attracted many riders from outside the area, some of whom
have subsequently become WDBA members.
Back in April, entries for the Wood Street
Pleasure Ride got off to a slow start, but swelled to 33 by
the closing date. On the day, we had a great turnout of 24
riders (as always, a few people dropped out at the last minute).
The route went from the White Hart pub at Wood Street Green,
up Pinks Hill, through the Surrey University fields, along
West Flexford Lane and back to Wood Street. The Hog's Back
provided a stunning backdrop for a canter, and there were
lots of good tracks to trot along or just chill out and soak
up the picturesque countryside.

The Treasure Hunt Ride on
Whitmoor Common was held in support of the BHS Access Week
and took place on a gloriously sunny day in May. Twenty-one
riders divided into 10 teams departed at intervals from the
Jolly Farmer pub onto a route through the pretty woods and
heathland of the Common. Teams were given a map and a colour
as a team name, and had to collect the corresponding coloured
ribbons hidden craftily along the route. At the checkpoints,
the teams answered horse-related questions and a brain teaser.
They then opened flaps on the Treasure Map to (hopefully)
reveal some treasure! Gold coins (albeit rather melted!) were
collected and the loot was totalled up at the finish.

Amassing an impressive 53
gold coins were the winning team of Sarah Kingsley, Claire
Dennis and Nicki Foss. Thanks to the success of this event,
we made a donation of £22 to the BHS in support of their
Access Week campaign.
The Committee would like to give
a huge thank you to everyone who donated their valuable time
to help at these events - we can't run these rides without
you!
Also, thank you to everyone who
supported the WDBA and the BHS by taking part.
See you again soon.
