Welcome
to the Worplesdon & District Bridleways Association website
The Worplesdon & District Bridleways Association
(WDBA) was founded in 1992 by horse riders from Worplesdon and the
surrounding areas, including Pirbright, Normandy, Ash, Wood Street
and Whitmoor Common. The association's main objectives are to:
- Provide circular horse rides avoiding highways
wherever possible.
- Protect, maintain and improve existing tracks
to ensure all-year-round use.
- Establish good relations with the MoD for improved
access to Ash and Pirbright Ranges.
- Maintain pressure on local authorities for
more access and safer road crossings.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with
landowners, councils and other interested parties for
safe routes linking areas suitable for off-road riding.
- Revise local maps to give clearer indication
of permissive horse rides, bridleways and suggested routes.
- Develop good relations with other users of
the countryside and encourage their understanding of horses.
- Obtain financial support through grants, events
and sponsorship to deliver our aims.
The Worplesdon & District Bridleways Association
has:
- Raised £10,000 from the Breathing Places
lottery fund to resurface a path on Normandy Common.
- Raised over £20,000 through grants and
fundraising events.
- Produced laminated maps of Whitmoor and Broad
Street Commons showing permissive horse rides.
- Re-opened and resurfaced paths in Ash Green
and on Whitmoor, Backside and Broad Street Commons.
- Liaised with landowners to open paths linking
Wood Street and Normandy.
